Originally from the NSW south coast, Kiri completed a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Sydney before moving to Canberra in 2005. In 2006 she completed her Master of Music in Flute performance, studying with Virginia Taylor at the ANU School of Music. She has held the position of Principal Flute with Sinfonia, the Sydney Symphony’s mentoring orchestra, and has performed and recorded with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra. In December 2006 Kiri was awarded the prize for Best International Wind Player at the Gisborne Music Competition in New Zealand. She was a finalist in the Australian Solo Flute Competition in 2005, and has performed with the Australian Youth Orchestra. Kiri was a member of the Sydney Youth Orchestra 2002-4, touring Italy as principal piccolo in 2004 and staying on in Europe to attend the 46th Academie Internationale d’Ete de Nice, studying with Professeur Claude Lefebvre of the Paris Conservatoire. Kiri recently premiered a flute version of a concerto by British composer David Bedford, and currently teaches flute in Canberra.
